Sam was born on July 28, 1935 at the family farm in Archie Municipality near Welwyn, Saskatchewan. He was the fourth youngest son of Ernest and Catherine (nee McDonald) Bowey.

Sam attended school in Welwyn. He left home at age seventeen to work with the Department of Agriculture at Melita and Brandon, Manitoba.  Sam met Margaret Regner, the love of his life while working in Eatonia. Sam and Margaret were married on August 1, 1957. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. They have a son Carl and a daughter Shelley.

Sam loved the great outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved spending time at the cabin at Nelson Lake with family and friends. Dear Maggie and family, our hearts ache with yours. We are so deeply saddened and are thinking of you during this time. We will always remember Sam for his infectious grin, his constant tinkering around the lake fixing this and that, his wonderful stories, and the big bonfires he had in the evenings. He was always so friendly and willing to help or lend a tool when we needed. One of our favourite memories will always be seeing him on his pontoon boat or sitting on the dock enjoying a beverage. He will be so missed by his " lake" family

We are deeply saddened to hear of Sam's passing. We have so many great memories from years ago. Nevin is heartbroken to have to say goodbye to his lifelong friend. Sam meant so much to him and my Dad has always cherished their friendship dearly. When Nevin tells an old story about hunting, Sam's name is always attached. They were blessed with a lifelong friendship full of great times and great memories. Thinking of you all during this difficult time and sending you hugs.
Love Tanya, Naomi and Nevin
