Andrew Popowich of the Sturgis district died on October 30, 2018 in his sleep at Preeceville and District Health Centre at the age of sixty nine years.
Andrew was born on November 30, 1948 on a farm near Sturgis to George and Mary (nee Kalenchuk) Popowich, where he grew up with thirteen siblings.
Andrew was the baby of the family. Farming was Andrew’s passion along with fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed playing cards and was always interested in knowing what other people were doing. Andrew was associated with the Sturgis congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was baptized on April 20, 1968.
Andrew is survived by his siblings, Mike, Rose Frederickson, Elizabeth Powlousky and Metro as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Nellie, John, Steve, Bill, Tom, Anne, Ellen, Dorothy and Nick.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, November 3rd at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sturgis with Pat Popowich officiating. Interment followed in the family plot in the Sturgis Community Cemetery with Jamin Popowich, James Prekaski, Heath Popowich, Dan Popowich, Kevin Frederickson & Ernest Scebenski served as casketbearers. Memorials donations may be made to the Preeeville Hospital Auxillary or to the charity of one’s choice as gifts of remembrance.
