Caroline Helen Steciuk (nee Strykowski) was born April 22, 1927 in Preeceville to John and Veronica Strykowski on the family farm three miles southeast of Preeceville. Caroline was one of five children. Her siblings included Stanley, Joe, Tinia and Jim.

Caroline married the love of her life Fred Steciuk on August 21, 1943 in Canora and then moved to his farm southwest of Sturgis. They would welcome their first child Eugene on June 15, 1949 followed by their second son Ronald Sept 5, 1954. The family would remain in Sturgis and eventually would move to the family farm southeast of Sturgis.

Caroline was a housewife while her husband Fred farmed, hauled cattle and drove a school bus. Caroline loved to go fishing with her husband and had a large garden while living on the farm.

In later years Caroline and Fred took in their two grand-daughters and helped raise them. The two girls brought excitement into their lives and would remain with them until 1983.

Caroline’s husband Fred became ill in December of 1982 with leukemia and later passed away in January of 1983. This led Caroline to selling the family farm and moving to Preeceville where she bought a trailer and remained until going into the nursing home in 2014. During her time in Preeceville she loved to play bingo, crochet doilies and go bowling in which she won many a trophy. Caroline was also an active participant in the Trinity United Church where she sang in the choir, performed in their many plays, and served in the UCW where she served many a funeral luncheon, she also helped create the Perogy Grannies. The Perogy Grannies were responsible for making many a perogy to help raise money to build the new Trinity United Church.

Caroline loved having her family visit whether it was her children, grandchildren or in later years her great-grandchildren.

Caroline is survived by her two sons Eugene Steciuk of Sturgis and Ronald Steciuk of Regina. Her grandchildren Michelle (Brian) Zinchuk of Estevan, Candace (Tim) Kjarsgaard of Regina. Her great-grandchildren Katrina Zinchuk, Spencer Zinchuk, Abigail Kjarsgaard and Callie Kjarsgaard. She is also survived by her brother Jim (Carol) Strykowski and sister-in-law Mary Strykowski.

Caroline is predeceased by her husband Fred and siblings Stanley Strykowski, Joe Strykowski and Tinia Ignatiuk.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
