Mrs. Doris Mateush wife of the Late Mike Mateush of Preeceville passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Preeceville and District Health Centre. She was ninety eight years of age.
Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church in Preeceville.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Services.
Doris Boyko was born on April 8, 1920 in the Chekow district of Saskatchewan to Nicolas and Pauline (nee Bucthe) Boyko. She went to school at the age of seven to Checkow School. Doris had four sisters, Nettie, Pauline, Stella and Mary; three brothers, John, Mike and Teddy. She is predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings.
In 1940 Doris married Mike Mateush and they had two sons, Raymond and Edward. Her husband Mike predeceased her in 1996 at the age of seventy nine.
Doris and Mike lived and worked on their farm until 1975 when they retired and moved into Preeceville, where Doris still resided. In Preeceville Doris cooked at the Care Home for a few years. She loved playing cards and dice with her family and friends any chance she got. She loved visiting and bowling at club 60 with all of her friends. She loved to knit scarves for the family and make perogies, bread and bake gingersnaps for all of the grandchildren. She was famous for her homemade noodles, chicken soup and borscht.
Raymond married Linda Dubray and they have one daughter, Brenda Lee (Bob) McIntyre and two sons, Michael and Timothy (Melissa Dakiniewich). Edward married Diane Brooks and they have three daughters, Nicole (Jesse) Siegers, Kim Mateush (Antonio Capizzi) and Alicia Means. Doris has nine great grandchildren, Alyssa, Carsen, Megan, Krista, Hailey, Chloe, Henley, Joseph, Sophia, Olivia, Emiliano and Charlize; two great great granddaughters, Miley and Ava.
