PANTIUK - George Pantiuk husband of the late Margaret Pantiuk of Preeceville, formerly of the Hinchcliffe district passed away on August 15, 2017 at the Preeceville District Health Center.
George was born on January 22, 1929 on the family farm north of Sturgis, to Wasyl and Mary Pantiuk. George was the youngest of three boys and the fourth child in their family of six children. He started school at age seven at Brookview School which was one mile from home. After completing grade eight, George worked on the family homestead and then he went to work for a farmer near Moose Jaw. Once he completed his job there, he began doing road construction on Number One Highway. In the winters, George came home to work in bush camps for La Pas Lumber Company as a Caterpillar Operator. He also worked for the Rural Municipality of Preeceville with his brother John on road construction.
Gido loved farming and all outdoor activities. He also loved animals and always seemed to have a pet in his home, whether it belonged to him or not. George loved to play cards, watch curling and CFL football. His sweet, funny and kind sense of humour will never be forgotten.
George is predeceased by his wife, Margaret Pantiuk, his father Wasyl Pantiuk, his mother Mary Pantiuk, his daughter Delores Pasloski, his brother Fred Pantiuk, his sister Dora Mastrachuk, and his sister in law Irene Pantiuk. Left to mourn his passing are his daughter Linda Reed (Shaelyn, Shaun and Ashley), son in law Lawrence Pasloski (Michael and Jill: Raquel, Wes, Dayne, Kade, Saje; Brandi, Shane, Bree, Ty). He is also survived by his brother John Pantiuk, his sisters Rose (Mike) Badduke, Ann and brother in law Alex Mastrachuk, as well as numerous
nieces and nephews.
We feel very blessed that Gido received wonderful care at the Preeceville Health Center and that Reverend John Oussoren helped us to celebrate his life.
