Orest John Kozminski was born August 13, 1938 to his parents Walter and Kathleen (nee Glowatsky) Kozminski.  Orest grew up on the family farm and attended Beaver Bluff school.  He helped his dad with farming as well as working for a neighbour in the area.  Later he went to Edmonton to work as well as Winnipeg and Thompson, Manitoba, working underground diamond drilling.  But farming was his calling so he returned home.  His parents moved to Preeceville so he took over farming.  On October 27, 1973 he married Mary Shuya (nee Antonio) and also became step-dad to six children.  In 1975 their son was born.  They ran a mixed farm; milking cows, shipping cream, chickens, hogs, horses, et cetera.  In 2006 they sold the farm and moved to their current home in Preeceville.

Orest loved horseback riding, even as a young boy, riding bare back at super speeds.  He also enjoyed fishing, sports such as hockey and football, and was a Roughrider fan.  He loved teaching and playing cards with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed their visits during their summer holidays.  He loved them all very much.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, Orest passed away in Preeceville Hospital.  Orest was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Kathleen, two brothers, Victor and Bill, two sisters, Pauline and Lucy.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Mary of 45 years, five daughters, Victoria (Marty), Veronica (Stephen), Theresa (Glen), Juliet (Scott), Nadine (Paul), his two sons, Terrence, Michael (Tanya), 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, brother Jim, sister-in-law Olga, brother-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, and his friend and neighbour Philip.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  May God grant him eternal rest.
