Peter Shewchuk beloved husband of Helen Shewchuk of the Okla district passed away at his farm on January 30, 2018.
Peter Allan Shewchuk was born on March 1, 1937 on the family farm north of Invermay. Peter was the second of four children born to Alex and Tilley (nee Konjolka) Shewchuck. He attended Silver Spring School.
Peter grew up on the farm until Grade 8, then he began working construction with various local contractors, eventually working for Mike Radawetz for twenty – two years. In 1960, Peter married Helen Olszewski and they began a family of their own. Peter and Helen lived in Okla until 1974 when the family moved to the farm.
Peter was a loving, hardworking, patient man. He loved the earth and farming was of second nature to him. His cows were his pride and joy.
Peter had several hobbies such as reading newspapers, having a cup of tea in the evening, visiting, trapping, and cutting wood and gardening. He also grew a prize pumpkin patch.
Peter is predeceased by his younger brother Leslie, his father, mother and granddaughter Chesney Nelson. Peter is survived by his wife Helen and four children, Ronald , Evelyn (Miles Nelson), Liz (Wayne Trach), Chris ( Michelle), and grandchildren Crystal (Chris), Angie (Sam), Deanna, Megan (Mike), Kendra (Rob), McKinleigh, and great grandchildren Dax and Gemma, as well as his brother George (Eldean), sister Frances Lamont, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Crystal Bailey B.Th, Certified Celebrant officiating. Tributes and words of remembrance on behalf of the family were given by daughters, Evelyn and Liz and granddaughters, Megan and Angie. Helen and Chris Shewchuk served as urn bearers. Interment followed in the Okla Community Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Peter may be made to the Preeceville Long Term Care Auxiliary or to the
