Alvina Everitt Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alvina Everitt announce her passing on August 17, 2023, at the Regina General Hospital.

Mom was born on the homestead near Nobleville on September 13, 1933, to parents Wilfred and Anna Marceau. She was the first daughter and had three older brothers, one younger brother and two younger sisters. Mom attended the Duck Lake and Zenon Park convents. When the family moved to town she continued her education at the school in Carrot River, Sk.

Mom married dad (Stan Everitt) October 3, 1951. They lived in Carrot River, Sk, Usherville, Sk, and moved to Preeceville for the remainder of her life. Mom and Dad had eight children, 5 sons, Larry, Lawrence, Wayne, Donald and Wilfred and 3 daughters Darlene, Faye and Gale. Mom worked at the dry cleaners then as a cook at the motel, the Century House and then went to work at the hospital. She worked at the old Preeceville Hospital for years and then moved to the new hospital for the rest of her career.

Along with raising a family of 8, pretty much on her own as dad worked away all week, mom was a Girl Guide leader for a few years. She always had a huge garden so did lots of canning of both vegetables and fruits. Mom enjoyed pitching horseshoes and was the Ladies Saskatchewan Champ for a few years. She enjoyed slow-pitch, bowling, bingo and playing cards. Mom was an amazing seamstress and loved to knit and crochet many beautiful things.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Anna Marceau; brothers, Eugene, Henry and Herman; sisters-in-law, Joyce, Stella and Marie and brother-in-law, Nick Lysyshyn, and Marcel Despins. She is survived by her brother, Harvey and sisters Beatrice and MaryJane. Mom is also survived by her children, Larry (Peggy) Everitt (Carrot River, SK), Lawrence Everitt (Good Spirit Lake Resort), Darlene (Blaine) Ganong (Regina, SK), Faye (Jack) Lesanko (Sturgis, SK), Gale (Edgar) Jaques (Endeavour, SK), Wayne (Deb) Everitt (Stonewall, MB), Donald (Colleen) Everitt (Winnipeg, Mb), Wilfred Everitt (Preeceville, SK) along with 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Preeceville and Regina General Hospitals for their care and compassion for making mom’s passing pain free! Also, thanks to the Preeceville Ambulance and to the Preeceville Funeral Home for their help with all the arrangements.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 28, 2023 from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Crystal Bailey, Certified Celebrant, officiating. During the service the hymns “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden” were played. Darlene Ganong shared special memories of her mom and those present viewed a slide-show. Interment followed in the Preeceville Community Cemetery with Derek Everitt, Bruce Everitt, Brian Ganong, Nick Lesanko, Greg Jaques, and Grant Jaques serving as casket bearers.

Memorials in memory of Alvina may be made to First Steps Wellness Centre (2339 2nd Ave. Regina, SK, S4R 1A5).
