Annie Sobothniski was born on October 22, 1927 to Joseph and Tillie Bebenek in the Danbury District. Annie married Mike Sobothniski on December 21, 1945. She and Mike had four children: Phyllis Hanson (Assiniboia), Lorne Sobothniski (Danbury), Shirley (Garry) Fedorchuk (Danbury) and Ken Sobothniski (Sturgis).   Annie and Mike enjoyed fourty- seven years of marriage, until Mike passed away on January 14, 1993.

Annie spent her lifetime on the farm and shared many of the everyday routines like milking cows and feeding the many animals she loved such as chickens, geese, ducks, cats, dogs, even a rabbit, and all of the birds that flocked to her bird feeders. Annie loved gardening which included a vegetable garden, fruits and many flowers. Her pantry was always full of canning, freezing and baking. Annie also enjoyed sewing whether it was for her family or “whipping up” a new dress for a friend or neighbour, without a pattern most times! Annie loved her Kingdom Hall family as well as all of her relatives and friends. Annie’s travels included short trips to visit her family whether to Texas, B.C. or near her home.

She spent the last six months at the Norquay Lodge where she passed away on November 1, 2017.

Left to mourn her passing are her four children and their families:

Daughter, Phyllis Hanson and her two sons and four grandchildren: David (Lori) and their children Jorja and Dawson; Shane and his children Kyra and Grayson; Son, Lorne Sobothniski, Daughter, Shirley (Garry) Fedorchuk and their four children and nine grandchildren; Preston (Tanya) and their children, Jayden and Jake; Deerdra (Dale) Klebeck and their children Alyssa and Colby; Dustin (Amanda) Fedorchuk and their children Austin and Tyson; Roxanne and her  children, Wyatt, Ocean and Lexus; Son, Ken Sobothniski and his four children; Karl (Desiree) Checkowy, Sasha, Shannon and Sage Sobothniski; her siblings: Mike (Lupe) Bebenek, John Bebenek, Paul Bebenek, Sylvia (Paul) Lukey, Mary (Walter) Perpeluk, Stanley (Helen) Bebenek and David (Pauline) Bebenek; as well as many nieces, nephews,  relatives and friends.  

The family of Annie Sobothniski wishes to express their thanks for your attendance at her service and for your many expressions of kindness.  

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Garry Raudabaugh of the Sturgis Kingdom hall officiating.  Urn Bearers were Karl Checkowy, Preston Fedorchuk, Shane Ciocia and Dave Ciocia. Honourary Bearers were all of Annie’s loving grandchildren. Interment followed in the Danbury Community Cemetery. 

Memorials in memory of Annie may be made to the Sturgis Kingdom Hall or to the Norquay Long Term Care Auxiliary as gifts of remembrance.
