Arthur "Art" Crozier Obituary

CROZIER - The family of Arthur (Art) Crozier, of the Preeceville District, sadly announce his passing on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Preeceville Palliative Care from infection and a courageous battle with cancer. He was lovingly surrounded with his wife, Susan, and their five daughters at his side, sharing their favorite memories of him.

Art was born Feb. 1, 1953 in Preeceville, SK, the third child of Clifford and Hazel (Wall) Crozier. He grew up on the family farm north of Hinchcliff with his siblings, Sharon (Happy), Ray, Bonny (Chupik) and Bev (Berger). He loved every minute on the farm with his pet cows and farming. As a boy he joined Air Cadets and fell in love with flying and later in life achieved his pilots license and owned an Ultralight, which was a dream come true for him. One of his first jobs was driving Cat and farming. He married Victoria (Shuya) then headed to Regina doing all kinds of construction which led him to Mikado, Sk. They started a family and their first daughters, Laura & Linda (twins) were born in 1979. He decided to start his own business, Art's Construction, there. Seven years later in 1986, their third daughter, Leah, was born, and they decided to move closer to home to the Endeavour area to continue his love for cattle and farming. Seven years later they had their fourth daughter, Lydia, born in 1993. Years later he and Victoria separated and later divorced. He was a big part of our community with Lion's Club, church, curling, President for Etoimamie Valley Cemetery, teaching woodworking for 4-H and helping with whatever else his children were involved with. He worked in the logging industry owning some of his own equipment. He then worked as maintenance at the Preeceville Hospital for 6 years. He and his sisters, Bev and Bonny, saw a need for a care home, so together they created the Preeceville Personal Care Home. That is where he and Susan Vergara became acquainted, and their friendship turned into an everlasting, beautiful love. Art openly welcomed Susan’s daughter, Britney, into his life and always called her his fifth daughter. They built a home together and resided just outside of Preeceville. He had the biggest passion for nature, hunting, fishing, skidooing, 4-wheeling, picking mushrooms and wild berries, cooking and creating. His imagination would never stop. His talents were many, and there was very little he couldn't fix or create. It was hard sometimes to get him to stop and remember to eat. As busy as he was, he was always there when we needed him. Art had a passion for music, and would get caught singing when he thought no one was listening. Last summer, he and Susan began to build a little cabin on his quarter he kept near endeavour with a saw mill and trees from the land. The two of them spent endless hours working mostly by hand on the cabin, with some help from his daughters and son-in-laws. Nearly completed this summer, with just some finishing touches to do, he didn't get to enjoy the cabin as much as he would have liked. But his legacy will live on, through his children and grandchildren.

Art will be lovingly remembered, but sadly missed by his wife, Susan Vergara, his five daughters, and eleven grandchildren. Laura (Cory) Roelens; Rachel and Shayla. Linda (Nelson) Davidson; Reese Mostowchuk, Kortana Ross, Kaiden, Ashton, Haylee, Emma. Leah (Ben) Prestie; Will, Connor and Joey.  Lydia Crozier (Harley Savoie). Britney Vewchar (Jaedin Blish).

Art is also survived by his siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends including the staff and residents at the Preeceville Personal Care Home.

The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 20, at the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Rev. Luanne Hrywkiw of Holy Trinity Anglican Church officiating. Debbie Blender played the piano for the hymns, ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘In the Garden’, and ‘How Great Thou Art’. Words of Remembrance were shared by Trevor Crozier, Art’s nephew and Godson.  Art’s wife, Susan Vergara, Art’s daughters and all of Art’s grandchildren were named as urn bearers and exited the chapel to ‘Go Rest High on That Mountain’ by Vince Gill. The Interment followed in the Etomamie Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Etoimamie Valley Cemetery, Preeceville Hospital Auxillary, or to the Preeceville Personal Care Home as gifts of remembrance. Condolences can be sent to the family by visting Art’s tribute page at preecevillefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Home.
