Bennie Stachiw passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Invermay Health Centre at the age of 82 years. Bennie was born to Peter and Stella( nee Stefanyshyn) on January 12, 1935 in the Hryhoriw district. Bennie was the second oldest son. He attended Halycry school. In 1950, his parents moved to the Norway district. Bennie and his siblings helped their parents with plowing, seeding, haying and bindering. Bennie had a passion for hunting and trapping in his pastime. He loved the outdoors; skidooing, and riding his quad. Bennie was a talented accordian player and played in various bands. In 1970, Bennie took over the family farm. He grew crops and raised Hereford cattle. In 2007, he semi-retired and continued to live on the farm until May 2015 when his health failed and he was placed in a care home.

    Bennie was predeceased by his parents Peter and Stella, sister in law Rose Stachiw, nephew Randy Stachiw of Abbotsford, B.C..He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers Edward, Allan( Wendy), sisters Lorraine( Nick),Sylvia( Lorne),  Lorna( Clarence), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

    At this time, the family would like to thank the staff at the Invermay Health Centre who went above and beyond for the care they gave our brother. It is at Bennie's request that there be no funeral. His cremated remains will be laid to rest at a private family burial at a later date. Preeceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Invermay Health Centre as tokens of remembrance.
