BASHFORTH-Brian Bashforth, of Okla, SK, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. He was 73 years of age. Brian, the 5th of 10 children of Roy and Vera Bashforth of Okla, was born on February 15, 1952, in Preeceville, SK.
Brian’s education started at Turnout School which he attended for 4 years. He then attended Okla School until grade 6, then Lintlaw School until grade 9 and then graduated from Kelvington High School in 1973.
After graduation, Brian worked briefly in Vancouver before receiving his apprenticeship diploma at SIAST in Moose Jaw, SK. He then worked with Dalton Electric in Preeceville for a few years and then formed his own company, Bashforth Electric. In the earlier years of Bashforth Electric he worked alongside Wilfred Bellows of Hyas where he gained immense knowledge and met many, many customers. Some of which became good friends. Brian really enjoyed his work.
Brian loved to hunt. He spent many days, hunting with his brothers, nephews and friends who shared Brian’s passion for the sport.
Brian also loved to fish. (except when he was hunting).
Brian is predeceased by his parents, Roy and Vera Bashforth. His brothers Dwight and Gerald and his nephew, Justin Gwilliam.
He is survived by his brothers, Wayne (Marlene), Gary (Valerie), Dale (Kathy), Kelly (Karen) and Bruce; sisters, Brenda (Gordon) Bellows and Bonnie Gwilliam; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bashforth and Elaine Bashforth as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Brian will be remembered for his detailed work ethic and his compassion for his customers. He will also be remembered for his passion for hunting and fishing as well as his quiet nature.
He will be missed.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home, with Lyle Olson leading the service. June Affleck and Scott McChesney shared messages and scripture. Dale and Kelly Bashforth shared tributes and special memories of Brian. Pianist, Karen McChesney played the piano for the hymns “Heart and Purpose”, “A Tender Heart”, and “Amazing Grace”. Interment followed in the Okla Community Cemetery with Wes Bashforth, Jody Bashforth, Rory Bashforth, Crystal Prouse, Josh Bashforth and Craig Patzer serving as casket bearers. Memorial Donations in memory of Brian may be made to the Okla Community Cemetery (c/o Box 7, Okla, SK S0A 2X0) as gifts of remembrance.
