It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Buchan, of Sturgis, announce her passing on Saturday, March 14, 2026. She was 81 years of age.
A gathering in celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in memory of Carol may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan (https://www.cancerfoundationsask.ca/) as gifts of remembrance.
Carol Elaine Buchan (nee Johnson) was born in Preeceville, SK on December 22, 1944, to Henry and Florence (Lindstrom) Johnson. She grew up on the family farm in the Sturgis District with brothers, Lorne and Duane and sisters, Lois, Juanita and Lorraine. Carol attended Corofin School for grades1 to 4. The rest of her schooling was in Sturgis, graduating from the Sturgis Composite High School.
Carol then moved to Hudson Bay for her job working for the Department of Natural Resources. After her marriage in 1964, her and her husband worked at the family owned dairy, and owned and operated school buses, until they bought the MCLEODS Store in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan where they raised their four boys. After the sale of the store and the death of her husband, Brian, she moved to Whitehorse, Yukon, where she met and married Barney Roberge. Upon his passing, she moved back to Sturgis to be near family.
Carol loved her curling, both as a player as well as an avid fan. She also did many volunteer works.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Florence; brother, Lorne; sisters, Juanita and Lorraine, and her grandson Jamie Buchan.
Carol is survived by her brother, Duane; sister, Lois; her son; Scott (Jennifer), and their daughters, Mackenzie and Blaire; her son, Brent (Shelley), and their daughter, Carrington (Christopher) and son Lanny; her son, Rodney (Diane) and their daughter, Dana and son, Graham; her son, Alistair (Kim) and their sons, Ryan, Colin and Tyson.
Carol had many friends and was loved by all that knew her. She is sadly missed.
