APPEL – Dale Appel beloved husband of Norma Appel of Preeceville passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Hospital on July 28, 2017. He was eighty years of age.
Albert Dale Appel was born on May 12, 1937 to Albert James Appel and Nellie Isabel Appel (nee Johnson) in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. He attended the Togo School as a child and later received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan.
Dale was employed in a variety of capacities: as a teacher, as a captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force and as a Public Accountant and Notary Public. Albert also served the Town of Preeceville as an elected official for sixteen years, including twelve years as the Mayor of Preeceville. He belonged to the Masonic Order and several Concordant Bodies.
Dale was united in marriage to Norma Maria Astucuri on May 26, 1984 at the Anglican Church of St. John The Evangelist in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. Together, they raised two daughters, Catherine and Heather in Preeceville.
Albert was predeceased by his parents, Albert James Appel and Nellie Isabel Appel (nee Johnson); his brothers, Kenneth (in infancy), and William; his sisters, Elaine Wilson, Cheryl Edel (Cryderman), Adel Olson; his brothers in law, Orville Wilson, Jay Cryderman, Harold Edel and Ross Olson; a sister in law, Gwen Hackney (Appel).
Left to cherish and remember him are his wife of thirty three years, Norma of Preeceville, SK; his daughters, Catherine Pillipow of Regina, SK and Heather (Kelly) Bartch of Merritt, BC; his grandchildren, Katie and Kerri Pillipow and Jordan Bartch; his nieces, Karen (Garry) Kennedy of Swan River, MB, Diane (Bill) Heather of Lorrette, MB and his nephews Everett Wilson of Roblin, MB, David Olson of Winnipeg, MB and James Appel of Yorkton, SK; their spiritual child Jinil (Neethu) and their son, Nathan; as well as Dale’s two special feline friends, Chloey and Sheba
Prayers were held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from the Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church in Preeceville with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac serving as the celebrant. Jordan Bartch served as the cross bearer. Members of the Masonic Lodge performed their fraternal rites and served as the casketbearers. Interment followed in the Togo Community Cemetery.
