Delores Marie (Johnson) Wiwcharuk

July 7, 1937 ~ October 28, 2016 (age 79) 79 Years Old

WIWCHARUK – Delores Wiwcharuk wife of the late John Wiwcharuk of Preeceville, formerly of the Usherville district passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was seventy-nine years of age.

Delores Mary Wiwcharuk was born on July 7, 1937 on a farm east of Usherville, Saskatchewan.  She was the third of four children and the only daughter of Oliver and Doris (nee Leson) Johnson.

In the early 1960’s Delores trained as a Student Practical Nurse in Portage La Prairie Manitoba and practiced nursing in Balcarres Saskatchewan.

Delores married John Wiwcharuk on November 20, 1965 in Preeceville Saskatchewan. They resided on the family farm north of Usherville raising four children, three daughters, Janice, Dorrie, Beverly and one son, Johnny. Their second son Trevor passed away at an early age.

Delores moved to town shortly after her beloved husband passed in 1991, residing in Preeceville until her passing on October 28th 2016.  Being the consummate caregiver, she began work as a residential support worker for the Mackenzie Society at Anaka House and Preece Place where she enjoyed providing care until her retirement in 2004.

She enjoyed crafting, gardening, bird watching and going to bingo. After her retirement she was an avid sports watcher. The last few years she cherished her time spent with her coffee friends.

For over ten years, Delores battled cancer, enduring many hospitalizations and trips to Saskatoon for treatment.  For all of the many challenges she faced, Delores endured with quiet resolve and unwavering stoicism so as never to burden those she loved. She was gentle, kind, patient, and compassionate and never complained about anything.

She is predeceased by her husband, John Wiwcharuk, infant son, Trevor, parents, Oliver and Doris Johnson, brothers, Alfred, George and Norman Johnson, infant niece, Donna Johnson, in-laws, George and Mary Wiwcharuk and brother-in-law Herbert Wiwcharuk.
