Dennis Ivan Holte was born on October 31, 1942 to Melvin and Pauline (nee Baran) Holte. He was raised on the family farm near Ketchen, Sask.
Dennis attended Robinson Creek school, where he rode his horse "Trigger" to every day. He then went to Sturgis to complete his high school education.
After graduating, Dennis had a number of jobs. He worked on a ranch in Alberta, as an insurance adjustor for Government Insurance in Regina, as well as numerous other jobs in Swift Current, North Battleford and Lloydminster.
Dennis eventually returned to the Preeceville area and lived with Phyllis on her farm near Ketchen. They were together for over thirty-five years.
For the last three years, Dennis was living in Invermay. While there, he made a new friend, Barry Johnson. Barry looked out for Dennis and could be relied on for anything Dennis needed. The family is grateful for all his help and support.
Dennis was an avid "outdoorsman", enjoying trapping, hunting and fishing. He could often be seen in his boat at his favorite fishing hole at Twin Lakes.
He loved all animals and had many pets. As a young person, he had a faithful Collie named "Skippy". Another favorite pet was a Boston Terrier, which was a highly energetic dog that Dennis contended with and took with him all the time.
Dennis was stubborn, independent, worked and played hard until the bitter end.
Dennis was predeceased by his father and mother. He leaves to cherish his memory Phyllis Gowan, sister Dianne (Harold) Johnson, brother Stanley (Andrew) Holte; and beloved nephews Cameron (Debbie) Johnson and children Carson and Paisley; Bradley (Jacqueline) Johnson and children Mia and Jade; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He will be missed by the hearts and minds of many!
