Diana Hoffer was born March 2, 1945, the sixth and youngest child of John and Christina (Yesse) Hoffer. The family lived on a farm in the Stoney Acre District. Diana attended Stoney Acre School until Grade 3, and then attended Rockford School for grades 4 to 8. Grades 9 to 11 were taken at Sturgis Composite High School.
Diana was an avid learner and loved new adventures. In Grade 11, she left home and attended Miller College of the Bible in Pambrun, Sask. She worked in the summers counselling and teaching VBS in Devil Lake, North Dakota and at both Crystal Lake and Estevan Bible Camps. Each winter she returned to Miller College to further her education. She also spent a summer in British Columbia at Experanza doing office work and helping in the kitchen. She graduated from Miller in 1967 and returned home to continue with her grade 12 at Sturgis.
Diana loved to be busy and she eagerly took on new projects and experiences. In 1969 she began training to work as a missionary at Hodgson, Manitoba. She worked there until 1973, working with the youth at various clubs, camps and teaching Sunday School.
In 1973 she began working at SIGN in Yorkton and then Beaver Homes until 1981, moving over to work at International Harvester, now Case IH, in 1983. In 1988 she was laid off. In the spring of 1989, she began working at White Spruce, Yorkton, cleaning.
In 1996 Diana moved to Kelowna where her sister Pearl and Joe had a farm. She continued working at various housekeeping jobs until May 2006. When she packed up and moved back to her family roots at Endeavour.
Diana worked for various families doing housework before she officially retired in 2010. She also worked for the Village of Endeavour, managing our Landfill, and helping in the Village Office.
Diana had a strong faith and had accepted Jesus as her Savior at age 12. She attended various churches in the community and these last years enjoyed fellowship with the Endeavour Mennonite Church of God.
She worked tirelessly with her yard and home. Updating the trailer outside and inside, doing as much of the carpentry work that she could herself.
She loved animals. They were her family and nothing was too much to do for them.
She loved puzzles and reading and doing word find and crosswords. She also loved to camp. Her and Vivian spent time at Par Hill. Diana also travelled with her sister, Pearl, to the Maritimes, a trip of a lifetime. She travelled to the USA, to bring her brothers ashes back to be buried with the family.
Diana loved her independence. When she was given a diagnosis of cancer, she was determined to fight it. When she later suffered a stroke, she held onto her fighting attitude and was determined that she would recover. This winning attitude got her through many challenges of life, but this time, her body and her spirit were not able to fight. On November 12, Diana went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Diana will be remembered as having strong opinions (and sharing them), being independent, and for caring for those around her. She enjoyed life and took pleasure in the simple things. She will also be remembered for her love of Jesus and having a faith that carried her through hard times.
