Doris Hammerstrom was born July 22, 1924 to Oscar and Jenny Carlson on the family farm in the Robinson Creek District. She passed away Sept 19th 2016 in the nursing home in Preeceville. Doris started school at Robinson Creek at the age of 7. She also attended Nitchie Hill School. After her education, Doris helped her parents out on the family farm and a short time later she met Lloyd Hammerstrom at a dance.  They were married on a farm north of Ketchen and were blessed with 2 children, Lois and Garth. Doris worked alongside of Lloyd in the farming industry.  She was a hard worker, had a very nice garden and loved the outdoors. In 1973 Lloyd, Doris and son Garth, moved into Preeceville.  Doris was employed at the Century house in Preeceville for many, many years. Doris was a people person and loved to talk. It didn't matter if you were old or young; she always had a way to communicate with everyone. Doris retired and she loved to go fishing. She also liked to play crib and card games. Doris was a pleasant, easy going person and had no trouble making friends. Her friends would often drop by to visit her and she cherished those visits and held them close to her heart. Doris was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Nanny Hammer and the rest of us called her Nanny. She will be missed and thought of often. Doris was predeceased by her mom and dad, Oscar and Jenny, her husband Lloyd, her sister Vivian, her 2 brothers-Ray and Dennis. She is survived by her daughter Lois (Mervin), son Garth (Teresa), 4 grandchildren Micki, Merlin, Lance and Blaine. 2 great granchildren Brandon and Brooklyn.
