Ervin was born on July 22, 1928, in the RM of Hazel Dell on the SE ¼ of 27-36-09 to Edwin and Minna (nee Anderson) Lindholm. He grew up in the Lintlaw District and went to Woodstone School until Grade 6. He started farming at the young age of 13. He married his wife Myrtle (Schutte) in 1951. Together, the couple farmed and raised their family.
Ervin was an avid member of the community participating on many boards including being an RM Councillor from 1980-1987, on the School Board for 15 years, spent five years serving on the Saskatchewan Housing Authority, member of the Snow Plow Club for many years, managed local hockey teams over the years, was President of the Golden Glory Club for 21 years along with serving as Mayor of Lintlaw for two terms.
Ervin’s passion was farming, both cattle and grain. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and watching western shows.
Ervin is remembered by his loving wife of 71 years, Mrytle (nee Schutte), his four sons and their families, Ernest (Sandra), grandchildren, Candace (Tracy), Colin (Heather), Nicole (Greg); Barry (Holly), grandchildren, Justin, Jeaneen (Seth), Corey (Miranda) and Arin; Ken (Karen), grandchildren, Derek (Ronnie), Ashley (Tyler), Dillion (Kristen) and Dallas (Justine); David (Shannon), grandchildren, Jayden (Solomon) and Chase. Ervin also was blessed with 15 great grandchildren, Preston, Zander, Keira, Blakelyn, Jessica, Ryann, Arya, Shyann, Mersade, Laura, Seth, Ethan, Tayla, Hunter and Brinley.
Ervin was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Minna Lindholm; and his siblings, brother, Bob, and sister, Ruth, along with numerous other special relatives.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, from the Lintlaw Community Hall with Alvena Oryszczyn, Lay Worship Leader of the Anglican Church of Canada officiating. The hymns 'The Old Rugged Cross', 'Amazing Grace' and 'The Church in the Wildwood' were played. Ervin’s grandchildren, Colin and Jayden Lindholm, read the eulogy and shared words of remembrance. Interment followed in the Lintlaw Community Cemetery with Ervin’s grandchildren, Colin, Derek, Dillion, Dallas, Justin and Chase serving as the casketbearers. Honourary Casketbearers were Ervin’s grandchildren, Candace, Nicole, Jeaneen, Ashley, Jayden.
Memorial Donations in memory of Ervin may be made to Kelvingdale Lodge or to the Sunshine Bells for improvements to the Lintlaw Community Park as gifts of remembrance.
