ESTHER HOLOWACHUK
Esther Eleanor (Peterson) Holowachuk was born on October 31st, 1928 at her home in Preeceville, the only child of Arthur and Birdena Peterson. She attended Preeceville School, where she completed high school then she went to work at the Preeceville Hospital as a Nurses’ Aid for several years. She often spoke with pride and laughter about her working years there.
In 1951 she married John Holowachuk, and to this union three children were born – Sharon, Patricia and Kimberly.
Esther loved her flower garden and spring was her favourite time of year. She enjoyed going to the various greenhouses, and planting her flowers for the summer season. She always had an open door, and everyone was greeted with a cup of coffee and whatever baking she had. She made the best apple pie from the crab apples off her tree, and her doughnuts were second to none.
Esther also worked at the Lions’ Hostel for several years, and had many fond memories of working and caring for the elderly. She always made time to listen to, and comfort, the residents there. Esther was also employed at the hospital in various capacities, such as nurses’ aid, and in dietary.
She was an excellent cook, and many people benefited from her talents. She retired after 25 years of employment, and then spent much of her time with family and cared for her mom at home, and until her passing.
Esther was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Birdena, and her husband John. She is survived by her three daughters Sharon Bryson, Patricia Grabauskas, and Kim Hoyt, two sons in law, Jim Bryson and Keith Hoyt, two grandchildren Nicole Newinski and Ryan Bryson, and two great-grandsons, Taylor and Jordan Newinski.
Blessed be her memory.
