Fred Kovacs passed Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the age of 85 years
Fred was the youngest born to Steve and Elizabeth (nee Veresh) Kovacs.
Fred attended Veteran School and helped his dad farm. Later he worked out in different bush camps, Sturgis School unit and RM of Preeceville for 39 years. He was mechanically inclined; he could easily figure out any problems.
Fred enjoyed helping neighbors and friends out when needed. He loved to tease following with a big smile. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, and socializing with family and friends. In 1970, Fred married Hilda (nee Strelic) and they lived on the family farm helping the parents. In 2000, Fred retired and in 2009 had a bush accident which changed his life. The doctors told him he wouldn’t walk again, but with his determination he proved them wrong for 15 years.
Fred is survived by his loving wife Hilda of 54 years, as well as his extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Steve and Elizabeth, brother and sisters-in-law, Steve (Elsie) Kovacs, Ernie (Laurel) Kovacs, sister and brother-in-law Annie (Walter) Brown, sister Goldina, and nephew Earl Brown.
Funeral Services were held Monday June 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Kathy Ambrose as the officiant. The interment followed in the Endeavour Cemetery with the casket bearers being; Richard Kovacs, Nelson Kovacs, Allan Yuen, Lance Roste, Leonard Nagy, Dale Lambkin.
Memorial Donations in memory of Fred may be made to a charity of one’s choice as gifts of remembrance.
