It is with great sadness that the family of Garry Carl Walters, husband of Carol, announce his passing on December 23, 2021 at the Canora Hospital after a battle with Leukemia. He was 64 years of age.
In his younger days, Garry was known for his sense of adventure. He would often, without permission, race his little Shetland Pony. As a teenager, he worked in BC. On February 12, 1977 he married the love of his life, Carol Wiwcharuk. Garry enjoyed hunting and trapping and he eventually purchased his own trapping lease. He also enjoyed gunsmithing and tinkering with vehicles and was known to be a jack of all trades, but most of all, he will be remembered for his love of family, and being kind hearted and always willing to lend a hand.
In September, 2006, Garry and Carol purchased the Endeavour Store. They ran it together until December 31, 2021. During this time, Garry and Carol also bought the Pioneer Hotel in Endeavour in June 2014. This is where Garry began to show off his cooking skills, which he did not know he had. He never thought he would be cooking for so many people everyday. Steaks were his specialty.
Garry loved being at home where he enjoyed spending time with their horses and Hereford Cows. He loved all things outdoors. Camo was his favourite colour.
He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Ada Walters.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Shauna (Jeramy), Rocky (Carmen); sisters Beverly (Eli), and Mildred; brother, Gordon; and grandchildren, Kurtis, Hannah, Alex, Aiden and Aidria, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in Garry’s name may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency for the Patient Lodge Renewal Fund as gifts of remembrance.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Home.
