KOSHELUK  Gena Kosheluk beloved wife of Mike Kosheluk of the Preeceville district passed away peacefully at Canora Hospital on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the age of eighty-one. She will be dearly missed.
Gena Dora Kosheluk was the oldest daughter of Steve and Nellie Yacyshyn and was born at home on the family homestead located on NE 07 33 05 W2 south of Preeceville. Gena attended her first year of school at Wergland and then she attended Monastyr School until completing her grade 8.
On November 25, 1952, she married Mike Kosheluk, with whom she began raising their five children on a farm two miles from the current location.  Farm life kept her busy with milking cows, gardening, hauling square bales, and all the other household duties.
In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball while attending school and after marriage, singing with Mike in the Parklanders Band at dances and weddings.  She also enjoyed visiting with friends and extended family.  There was also her crocheting that she shared with many and passed down to her granddaughters.  Let’s not forget her bread-baking and of course the pompushky that everyone enjoyed.
Gena was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Nellie (Glowatsky) Yacyshyn, a sister, Hazel, in infancy, and also brother-in-law Mike Antoniuk.
Gena is survived by her husband, Mike of almost 64 years, five children; daughter, JoAnne Belesky and her two sons, Wayne (Corisa) and Ryan; daughter, Carol (Ron) Nimetz and their two sons, Cory (fiancé Hong) and Sheldon (Jodie); daughter, Gale Kosheluk; son Kevin (Karolyn) Kosheluk and their three children, Kortney (fiancé Connor), Kelsey, and Kennedy; daughter, Kim (Stan) Hladun, and their two sons, Skyler and Justin; and her six great grandchildren Taylor, Graison, Nicholai, and Emily Belesky, and Mikaela and Tyson Nimetz.  Gena is also survived by brother, Victor (Evelyn) Yacyshyn, sister, Bernice Antoniuk and her two sons Mike (Chalaem), Brad (Carol), and family.

Prayer services were held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, October 24, 2016 from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church in Preeceville with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac as the Celebrant.    Grandchildren, Cory Nimetz, Kortney Kosheluk and Kennedy Kosheluk served as the crossbearers.  Interment followed in the Preeceville Community Cemetery with grandchildren, Sheldon Nimetz, Wayne Belesky, Ryan Belesky, Skyler Hladun, Justin Hladun and Kelsey Kosheluk serving as the casketbearers.
