Ivy Peterson, 102 years old, mirroring the manner in which she lived, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018. She was predeceased by her loving husband Tom and her daughter-in-law Della. Ivy was born in Bangor, Saskatchewan on March 1, 1916, to Fredrick and Emily Bannister. In 1930, her father, then a widower, moved with his children to Schutte Lake, near Rockford, Saskatchewan. Ivy married the love of her life, Tom Peterson, in 1940. Their early years of marriage included farming near Lintlaw and then a move to Preeceville where Ivy was a homemaker and Tom operated a dray business. Throughout the marriage, Ivy was always very supportive to Tom's many ventures; ranching, cream truck driving and civic duties. In 1949, Tom and Ivy moved to their final home, Hazel Dell; there Ivy ran Peterson's General Store. When the store closed in 1964, Ivy, never idle, filled her time with, sewing, knitting, baking, community work, and countless acts of kindness to those around her. Ivy touched the hearts of her family and friends with gracefulness, wisdom and humbleness; we will really miss her.
Ivy's funeral will be held on Thursday, May 31 at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Rev. Barb Forsyth presiding. The burial ceremony will take place at Hazel Dell Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Ivy Peterson may be made to the Preeceville Hostel Auxiliary as gifts of remembrance.
