Ken Lawson Obituary

Kenneth Earl Lawson, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025. Born on December 14, 1952, in Preeceville, SK, Ken was the beloved son of Earl and Irene Lawson.   Ken grew up on the family farm near Okla, SK, where he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for mechanics under the guidance of his cherished mentor Uncle Fred. He attended school in Okla and entered the workforce in 1967, beginning a lifelong journey of dedication and skill. In 1972, Ken began his career as a mechanic at Formo Motors in Preeceville, where he achieved his Red Seal Mechanic Certificate in 1976. He worked at Formo Motors until 2008, earning a reputation for his expertise and dependability. Between 2009 and 2015, Ken applied his skills to various road construction jobs. In 1973, Ken married Elva Holte.  He was a proud father to two children, Cory (born 1974) and Nicole (born 1978), who brought immense joy to his life. Ken is predeceased by his mother, Irene (Dueck) Lawson; his father, Earl Lawson; his Uncle Fred Lawson; his Aunt Norma Wagar; his siblings, Arlan (in infancy), Allan, and Dianne Nightingale; and his brothers-in-law, Dick Nightingale and Jack Scebenski. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Cory (Crystal) and Nicole (Jonathan); and his cherished grandchildren, Dorian (Margo), Torin, and Hailee, children of Cory; and Jaci and Caison, children of Nicole; his siblings Donna (Darwin) Chalupiak, Gloria Lawson, Tim Lawson, Shelly Scebenski, and numerous extended family members and friends. Ken’s legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so dearly. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support during this time.

The Funeral Service was held on Friday, January 10, 2025, from the Chapel of the Preeceville Home with Kim Sandager, Certified Celebrant, officiating. Cory Lawson read the eulogy. The musical selections that were played in the service were “If Jesus Walked the World” by Alan Jackson, “Daddy’s Hands” by Holly Dunn and the hymn, “In the Bulb There is a Flower”.  Dorian Lawson served as urn bearer for the interment in the Nut Mountain Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Ken may be made to Preeceville Long Term Auxiliary (Box 482 Preeceville, Sk. S0A 3B0) as gifts of remembrance. Arrangements were entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Home.
