Kenneth James Kortmeyer was born on January 15, 1954 at Wilkie, Saskatchewan, son of Milton and Jean (nee Bell) Kortmeyer.
Ken spent his first few years growing up on a farm south of Sturgis. In 1961, the family moved to a farm a half mile from Sturgis. Ken spent a lot of his time with his father and grandfather learning all about tending to animals, planting and harvesting crops and being a mechanic around the farm. After Ken’s father Milton passed away, Ken continued to live at the farm and care for his mother. He was always very dedicated to his family and his work on the farm was always very important to him. Ken later spent a lot of time with his nephew, Dustin and passed his farming knowledge on to him with the hopes that someday he would take over and continue the family farming tradition like his uncle, grandfather and great grandfather.
Ken was a quiet, gentle man, like his father and grandfather had been. His nephews Joel, Bobby, Dustin and niece Danielle were very special to him. Keeping in touch with his friends and getting all of the parts and supplies he needed at Case IH or CPS was an essential part of his day. He always got back to the farm in time to get the swathing, combining or whatever the farm needed done.
Ken was predeceased by his paternal grandparents George and Dora (nee Stack) Kortmeyer, his maternal grandparents, Robert and Minnie (nee McKay) Bell, his beloved father Milton and mother Jean.
Ken is survived by his brother, Wayne and his family; nephew, Joel (Brandy) and their son, Collton; nephew, Bobby (Erin) and their children, Broden, Brooke, Hayden and Parker; nephew, Dustin and niece, Danielle (Kevin Drobot) and their son Riley.
