Marie was born January 19th, 1939, on the farm, in Weekes, Saskatchewan. She had seven siblings and attended school at Neelly Lake, Saskatchewan.

Marie met the love of her life at a dance in Weekes, Saskatchewan and romance was inevitable! She married Eugene Boen on October 16, 1957.  Their first son, Allan was born in 1958, followed by their second son, Raymond, born in 1960. To Marie and Eugene’s great delight their daughter, Corinne was born in 1970. They were happily married 59 years until Eugene’s passing in 2016.

She lived on the farm with Eugene - grain farming and worked off farm as well. She co-owned a rug cleaning business with Eugene and they worked evenings and weekends travelling as far as Winnipeg to clean rugs at the airport. Marie worked at the Co-op for 18 years and following that she worked in the Sturgis Book Store for 4 years. Marie and Eugene moved into Sturgis in 1971.

As a woman with endless energy, she also catered Wildlife and Curling banquets as well as weddings with her friend Ann.

Marie volunteered with many organizations; Sturgis curling and skating rink kitchens, making bread dough and cooking in the clay oven for the museum, taking pies to many events, fundraising for the Sturgis and District Hall and many more worthy causes. Marie never said no to anyone needing her time or help.

Her family was truly the most important focus of her life and each member benefited from her belief and encouragement. We all knew we were loved. She did indeed leave a legacy of kindness and care for each of us.

Marie especially enjoyed curling bonspiels, bowling and card playing, in all cases supplying tons of fun. Laughter, food and love are what she brought to every occasion! Friends and family were always welcome. She made a home so full of love, welcoming everyone for a meal, game of cards or a visit.

Marie is survived by her children, Allan (Kathy), Raymond (Karen) and Corrinne (Roy); grandchildren, Rebel, Anna (John), Dwayne (Lori), Dustin, Dee Dee, Cade and Savannah; great-grandchildren, Tory, Teah, Tyra (Paul), Henry, Gus, Cora, Simon, Ireland, Britton, Jackson and great-great- grandchildren, Hartlee and Lainey. She is survived by her siblings, Florence, Robert (Wendy), Arthur and Phyllis and special friends, Jean and Lillian.
