We are sad to announce the passing of Morris Louis Schutte. Morris passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on May 31st, 2025 with his wife Sylvia by his side. He was 84 years of age.
Morris was born on September 16th, 1940, in the village of Endeavour, Saskatchewan. He was raised on the family farm in Rockford and attended Rockford School. Upon leaving school Morris continued working on the family farm and ventured out to work at various jobs throughout the years. Some of these jobs included working for Czornobay Construction, the RM of Hazel Dell, Preeceville Salvage, Hudye Farms and various logging outfits. Morris bought a 3 tonne Chevy truck shortly after he married Sylvia, he used this to haul cattle and grain for the local farmers. The old 3 tonne still sits at the family farm today.
Morris met the love of his life, Sylvia Ebel, at a local dance in 1961. After a short courtship they were married on October 26th, 1962, at the Pentecostal Church in Preeceville. On January 12th, 1962, their son Bradley was born. Sadly, he passed away in May of the same year. Morris and Sylvia had four more children, a son Lyle, and 3 daughters, Denise, Lanette and Cheryl. In 1974, they purchased the family farm and together, Morris and Sylvia, maintained a mixed farming operation of cattle and grain while raising their children. Morris loved farming the land and took great pride in his cattle. He was very mechanically inclined and always seemed to know the answer when it came to repairing a vehicle or machinery. Morris loved his John Deere tractors and Chevy trucks and before his health declined you could always find him outside doing some maintenance on them to keep them in tip top condition.
Morris had an immense love for his family and was always interested in hearing what everyone was up to. He enjoyed every visit that he had with anyone who stopped in at the farm. He loved getting the phone calls from his siblings, it meant so much to him. Although one particular sibling, Orville, called every night like clockwork, Dad missed their discussions once Orville had passed.
You could always be sure you were going to have a few laughs with Morris. He loved to tease; you could be sure that Morris was fond of you if he was teasing you. We will always miss Morris and his quick wit and sense of humor. He had a soft spot for all animals and Morris and Sylvia took in many homeless animals throughout the years. You can be sure that any animal that made its way over to their farm would have felt like they won the lottery. This love of animals was instilled in all 4 of their children.
Morris and Sylvia were blessed to have been able to achieve 62 years of marriage.
Morris will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Sylvia; son, Lyle; three daughters, Denise, Lanette and Cheryl (Mike); grandchildren, Bradley (Andrea), Logan (Marnee), Jamin (Haley), Desrai (Hayden), Katryna (Austin) and Asia, and great- grandchildren, Addisyn, Aubry, Hazely, Ember and Kinzlee.
