Mrs. Lorna Homstol Obituary

Mrs. Lorna Homstol, beloved wife of the late Norman Homstol, of Preeceville, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. She was 105 years of age.    Lorna was born on December 16, 1919, to Henry and Clara (Swan) Olsen, the 5th of nine children. She attended Preeceville School from elementary and through high school. After completing high school, she moved to Ontario and worked in Oakville from 1939-1941. In 1941 she returned to Preeceville to marry Norman Homstol on October 8, 1941. They moved to Bellville, Ontario, after Norman joined the Armed Forces and lived there from 1942-1945. After the war, they moved back to Preeceville where they started a family. Lorna and Norman had three sons, Greig, Reid, and Lance, and a daughter, Elene (Lee). Lorna’s faith and the Lutheran Church were always a big part of her life. She was baptised, confirmed and married at the St. John Lutheran Church and she attended faithfully until just a couple years ago.

Lorna was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Clara Olsen; husband, Norman; siblings, Waldo, Clayton, Murray, Lowell, Lois (in infancy), Adella, Muriel, and Gladys, as well as her daughter-in-law, Doris.

She is dearly missed with many good memories by her sons, Greig (Evelyn), Reid (Jean), Lance and her daughter, Lee (Craig), as well as her grandchildren, Tami, Cheryl, Jason, Lori, Ryan, Scott, Melissa, Krista, Kyle and their spouses and her 15 great grandchildren.

The Funeral Service was held on November 5, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in Preeceville with Pastor Hein Bertram officiating. The pianist, Barb Melsness, played for the hymns “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”, “I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry”, “My God, How Wonderful Thou Art”. Scriptures were read by Tami MacDonald, Melissa Dessaulles and Krista Kaminski.  Interment followed at the Preeceville Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Lorna may be made to St John’s Lutheran Church as gifts of remembrance.
