We are sad to announce the passing of Myrtle Elsie Lindholm (nee Schutte), beloved wife of the late Ervin Lindholm. Myrtle passed away peacefully at Kelvindell Lodge on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 94, with family by her side.

Myrtle is remembered by her four sons and their families, Ernest (Sandra), grandchildren Candace (Tracy), Colin (Heather), Nicole (Greg); Barry (Holly), grandchildren Justin, Jeaneen (Seth), Corey (Miranda) and Arin; Ken (Karen), grandchildren Derek (Ronnie), Ashley (Tyler), Dillion (Kristen) and Dallas (Justine); David (Shannon), grandchildren Jayden (Solomon) and Chase.  Mrytle also was blessed with 15 great grandchildren, Preston, Zander, Keira, Blakelyn, Jessica, Ryann, Arya, Shyann, Mercade, Laura, Seth, Ethan, Tayla, Hunter and Brinley. She is also remembered by her siblings, brothers Lawrence (Dora) Schutte, Morris (Sylvia) Schutte and sister Ethel (Steve) Holmes, Sister-in-law, Vera Schutte plus numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Myrtle was predeceased by her loving husband of 71 years, Ervin Lindholm, her parents, Leander and Florence (nee Guy) Schutte; and her siblings, brothers Ronald Schutte and Orville Schutte and sister Doreen Buchinski, along with numerous other special relatives.

Myrtle was born on February 21, 1930, on the family farm in the RM of Hazel Dell. She grew up in the Rockford district and attended Rockford School until Grade 9.  After grade school, she worked in Sturgis at a restaurant and on a farm in the Lintlaw area doing household chores.  In 1951, she married the love of her life Ervin Lindholm. Together, they started their family farm and raised their four sons north of Lintlaw.

Myrtle was a key contributor to the family farm, along with an avid gardener ensuring she had a bounty of vegetables for the family. Myrtle could be found in the barn milking cows or in the combine during harvest.  She enjoyed harvesting her garden, canning and pickling the fruits and vegetables.  Myrtle took pride in keeping her house and yard clean and well maintained.

Myrtle enjoyed music and dancing. Her and Ervin attended many square-dancing events and musical jamborees throughout the province. They also enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards with family and friends.

She enjoyed the holiday season and ensured that the house was decorated inside and out.  She loved her grandchildren and would always have fresh baking for when they came to visit.

Myrtle was in the Kelvindell Lodge the past few years. She enjoyed her visits with family and friends and looked forward to the Sunday phone calls and coffee chats.  She really enjoyed it when the family would bring her a meal from Chicken Little.  It had to be two pieces of dark meat chicken and onion rings, and she wouldn’t turn down an ice cream treat.

Funeral Services were held on September 18, 2024, at the Lintlaw Recreation Centre, with Rev. Luanne Hrywkiw of Holy Trinity Anglican Church officiating. Pianist, Connie Prouse played the hymns The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace and The Church in the Wildwood. The eulogy and special memories were read by Myrtle’s grandchildren, Colin and Jayden Lindholm. Honorary casketbearers were Myrtle’s grandchildren, Candace, Nicole, Jeaneen, Ashley, and Jayden. Interment followed in the Lintlaw Community Cemetery with Myrtle’s grandchildren, Colin, Derek, Dillion, Dallas, Justin and Chase serving as casketbearers.

Memorial donations in memory of Myrtle may be made to the Lintlaw Sunshine Bells (Box 68, Lintlaw, SK, S0A 2H0) as gifts of remembrance.
