Nancy Cherkowski

Nancy Mary Cherkowski was born in Preeceville on August 30, 1940 to George and Mary Chorney. Nancy had 2 younger brothers Willie and Julius. She grew up in Preeceville and attended Preeceville School until grade 8 when she went to work. Nancy worked at the Golden Leaf Café.

On March 26, 1959 Nancy married Peter Cherkowski and together they lived on the farm and began farming. Together they worked side by side farming grain, cows and numerous animals. Nancy especially loved to tend her garden.

In 2005 Nancy and Peter moved into Preeceville due to Peter’s health. Nancy cared for Peter until his passing in April of 2017.

Nancy was a pleasant, kind and caring woman. She loved going for coffee and visiting with family and friends. She had a love of all animals especially cats. Her cat Jerry will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Mary Chorney and her husband Peter; and her in-laws Nick and Pauline Cherkowski.

Nancy is survived by her brothers Willie and Julius along with many relatives and friends.

The Funeral Liturgy was held on July 12, 2021 in Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church, Preeceville, SK with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac presiding. The Cross Bearer was Doris Wihnan. The interment followed in the Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery with Vern Poworoznk, Steve Poworoznk,     Kevin Romick, Willy Chorney, Dennis Balysky and Walter Burym serving as the casket bearers. Memorial donations may be made towards Holy Transfiguration Parish Cemetery as gifts of remembrance. Messages of condolence may be offered at preecevillefuneralhome.com.
