Raymond was born on April 1, 1941 to Bernice (Olson) and Albert Abrahamson. He attended Beaver Bluff School south of Preeceville, and south-west of the family farm. He always enjoyed being around people, and school was no exception.
When Raymond quit school, he was home with his grandma and uncles on the family farm for many years. Later in life he attended some of the programming that was offered at the Mackenzie Centre in Preeceville. He especially liked attending the dances and other fun events that took place. Raymond loved going to Camp Grizzly as well as competing in the Special Olympics where he won a number of medals that he was very proud of. Raymond loved music of all kinds. In his later years, he especially enjoyed the various entertainment that came to the Invermay Health Centre to entertain the residents.
When Raymond moved off the farm and into town, he lived with his Uncle Harold. When Uncle Harold passed away, Raymond remained in his home with the support of the Mackenzie Centre staff that came and assisted him with tasks that he needed help with. Raymond lived on his own until he required more assistance, he then moved into the Preecceville Personal Care Home. He enjoyed life there and being with the other residents. When Raymond broke his hip he was moved to the Invermay Health Centre and Invermay became his “new hometown”. Every move that Raymond made was a transition that he easily accepted and he loved all the places that he lived.
For most of his life Raymond was a faithful attendee of the Pentecostal Church in Preeceville, first with his aunts and uncles and then on his own.
Raymond was a true Swede, saying that his favorite food was Lutefisk, and he enjoyed eating it whenever he had the chance.
Raymond was predeceased by his mother, Bernice (Olson); father, Nels “Albert” Abrahamson; step-mother, Retta (Richardson); grandparents, Karin (Hogg) and Erik Abrahamson; aunts, Hattie (John) Iversen, Helen (Bruno) Esbensen, and Elsie (Robert) Gray; uncles, Clarence (Ann), Einer, Otto, Harold, Walter (Anna), and Edwin (Ruth) Abrahamson.
