Ronald Smith Obituary

Ron was born in Regina on December 7, 1938 to Gervase and Dorothy Smith. This is where they resided throughout Ron's childhood.  He spent most of his summers at his grandma's farm in Semans, SK.  He made some good friends there and loved hanging out at the farm.  Ron worked for Sask Power in Regina for over 15 years as a Draftsman.  He then made the move to Preeceville, SK, where he bought and operated the motel for 3 years.  In 1978 Ron moved to Sturgis where he bought an acreage and the Insurance Agency which he operated until he retired in 2002.

Ron loved sports.  He coached high school football in Regina for years.  He also coached football in Sturgis and Preeceville.  Ron coached Croy's hockey and baseball teams throughout the years.  He stayed in touch with many of the players, and was always known as Coach.  He was active in Kinsmen and played Slow-Pitch for many years.  He even designed and help build the ball diamonds at the sports grounds where he also volunteered on July 1st Sports Day.

His favourite past times were watching all kinds of sports, but particularly his NFL team, The Patriots.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking, camping, bird watching, skidooing and quading.  He enjoyed working in his yard with Mary Jane and their yard looked like a park.  They even won awards for their yard for the Communities in Bloom.

He loved spending time with his family and looked forward to all the visits.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Gervase and Dorothy Smith; brother Tom and sister-in-law, Cathy, sister, Tish and brother-in-law, Dale.

Ron will be lovingly remembered by his partner of 30 years Mary Jane Sinclair; daughter Gina Smith; son Croy (Kerrie) Smith and three grandchildren Brett, Bryker, and Bostin; step-son Ryan (Donna) Sinclair; sister Donna (Doug) Lynd; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ron to Diabetes Canada, 919 B Albert Street, Regina, SK, S4R 2P6.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
