Sarah Barbara Dyck was born on the farm near Clarkboro, Saskatchewan on July 13, 1934 to Aaron and Annie Dyck. She had two siblings: John and Marry and four adopted siblings: Helen, Dave, Abe and Tina.
In 1943, the family moved to Lymburn, Alberta and lived there for four years. In 1947, they moved to Winfield, B.C. Sarah worked in the packing house packing apples and she helped her Dad in his apple orchard. In 1951, the family moved back to Lymburn where Sarah helped her Dad on the farm until she met John Isaac. Sarah was chopping wood and didn’t look her best, while John was dressed in a suit. He was visiting with her parents. She waited for John to leave before she came back into the house. Finally, she couldn’t wait any longer and came into the house to meet the man who later became her husband.
Sarah and John were married on Friday, July 13, 1956 in Lymburn. They settled in the Spirit River area to raise a family. They had five children: Ken, Don, Bonnie, Shirley and Julene. Sarah and Ken milked cows and sold the cream to the local dairy. Sarah and John worked together on the farm and raised cattle. Sarah also grew a large garden for her family.
In the summer of 1976, John and Sarah sold the farm to their niece Yvonne Jassman and moved the family to Preeceville. John and Ken purchased a farm which Ken still owns today. In the fall of 1976, Sarah and John met their neighbours Eddie and Esther Prystay who invited them to their house for a meal.
Sarah enjoyed raising her children, quilting, gardening, puzzling, singing in the choir, going to Bible studies, playing with the grandchildren and travelling with John. Sarah also helped by cooking, cleaning and donating food to the Nelson Lake Bible camp.
Over the past four years, Sarah broke her hip and her health started to decline. Her health declined rapidly since the beginning of June, 2017.
