Obituary

Sharon was the eighth child in a sibling line of ten born to Jeannette and Charles Riddoch on May 14, 1951 in Hudson Bay, SK. She attended school there and lived there until meeting Alexander (Alex) Baran. The two of them were married on February 7, 1979 and welcomed their daughter Amanda on October 15, 1984. They lived and farmed near Lintlaw, SK until 1987. At that time they moved into the town of Lintlaw and Alex focused on carpentry.

Sharon enjoyed being a stay at home mom, doing odd jobs around Lintlaw and helping Alex with his carpentry jobs when needed. She loved crafts and enjoyed making needlepoint projects and handmade dish cloths to give to her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and Bingo. In the last several years her favorite ways to pass the time included coffee time with her friends, doing puzzles, word searches and coloring. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Benjamin (2012) and Elizabeth (2015), and she enjoyed daily phone calls with them. She loved to talk about their activities to anyone who would listen!

Sharon was predeceased by her husband Alex, mother Jeannette, father Charles, sister Patsy, brother Don and nephew James.  She is survived by her daughter Amanda (Shawn) and grandchildren (Benjamin and Elizabeth) of Regina, sister Vivian (Saskatoon), brother Jim (Edmonton), brother Lawrence (Hudson Bay), sister Shirley (Rosthern), brother Bill (Hudson Bay), sister Joyce (Victoria), brother Ron (Fort Saskatchewan), sister in law Julie (Lintlaw), sister in law Florence (Moose Jaw) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon’s family would like to thank all of the dedicated nursing and medical professionals from Kelvington Home Care Services, Regina General Hospital and Yorkton Regional Health Centre that provided her care.

Memorial donations in memory of Sharon may be made to the Canadian Lung Association as tokens of remembrance.
