Stella Prestie

Stella Prestie wife of the late Harry Prestie of High River, Alberta, formerly of the Ketchen district passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at High River, Alberta. She was ninety years of age.

Prayers will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery. 

Stella was born on March 13, 1929 on her parent’s homestead in Checkow District in Saskatchewan. She passed away peacefully on December 18, 2019 at the High River Long Term Care Hospital.

Stella was one of six children born to John and Irene Lemko.  Stella attended Checkow School and worked odd jobs after finishing school.  In 1947 Stella married Harry Prestie and began their life farming near Ketchen, Saskatchewan; there they raised their five children.

Stella enjoyed her gardening and farm life.  She devoted her life to care and raising her family.  Stella was a fabulous cook and took pride in providing for family and always enjoyed having company around.  We cherish the support, pride and love our Mom showed us.

Predeceased by her parents, husband Harry, sister Anna, brothers Bill and Paul and grandson Scott.  Stella is survived by her three sons, Garry, Don (Brenda), Barry (Brenda); two daughters Corliss (Ken) and Cindy as well as two sisters Evelyn and Rose.  Stella will be lovingly missed by her six grandchildren, Mike, Kevin, Nathan, Dalton, Jordan and MacKenzie; and seven great-grandchildren, Keenan, Kylan, Kiri, Kelsey, Ella, Boone and Logan.
