SHEWCHUK - Mrs. Tilly Shewchuk, resident of the Invermay Health Care Centre, widow of Alex Shewchuk, passed away on Thursday, October 6th 2016. She was 102 years of age. Teofila was born to Stanley and Amelia (nee Klosek) Konjolka on April 11, 1914 in the Theodore District of Saskatchewan. In 1915, she moved with her parents, sisters and brothers six miles south of Okla. She received all her schooling at Silver Springs School. Tilly married Alex Shewchuk in 1933 in Canora. They lived north of Invermay on the farm. They had 4 children, Frances, Peter, George and Leslie (deceased) Shewchuk. In her younger years she enjoyed her garden, knitting and crocheting. They moved to Okla in 1974 and then she moved back to Invermay in 1990. When Tilly was no longer able to live alone, she went into the Sturgis Care Home in 2005 and then to the Invermay Health Centre in 2006 where she lived until her passing. Tilly was predeceased by her husband, Alex Shewchuk; her son, Leslie Leon Shewchuk; siblings Mary Roblin, John Konjolka, Steffa Byspalko, Joe Konjolka, Stanley Konjolka, Caroline Kowaski, Walter Konjolka, Maggie Matsalla; grandson, Bradley George Shewchuk; Great granddaughter, Chesney Nelson and sons-in-law, Steve Horbach and Jack Lamont. She leaves to cherish her memory her three children: daughter, Frances Lamont of Kelvington; two sons, Peter (Helen) Shewchuk of Okla and George (Eldeana) Shewchuk of Invermay; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The Funeral Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, October 10th 2016 from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church in Preeceville with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac, Celebrant. The crossbearer was Kennedy Laroque. The interment took place in Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery at Hazel Dell with Ronnie & Chris Shewchuk, Miles Nelson, Wayne Trach, Willie Matsalla and Duane Horbach serving as the casketbearers. Memorials were to the Invermay Health Centre or to Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Cemetery Fund. Arrangements were entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Home.
