Walter Joseph Blotski was born on January 20, 1944 in the Canora Hospital to Dan and Julia (Mykytyshyn) Bloski; the fourth child of six. They resided on a farm in Lonespruce District, SE of Hazel Dell until he was four years old when they moved to another farm a few miles away which was in the Orangevale District. Walter first attended Orangevale School, he then continued his education at Preeceville School where he completed Grade 10.
On November 7, 1970 Walter married Jacqueline (Jackie) Fannon at the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Preeceville. After their marriage they resided in Preeceville and were blessed with three children; Christopher, Darcelyn and Jody.
Walter was a very hard worker and was certainly a man of many talents. Walter worked on a Dairy Farm for Norman and Jean Meberg, in the logging industry, and for Remy Construction. He worked for Saskatchewan Highways for 30 years; starting as an equipment operator which took him all over the province of Saskatchewan, and eventually working his way up to the supervisor position in Preeceville. During the times when his work was seasonal, Walter worked for Jack Parkin’s plumbing business. He owned and operated a saw sharpening business for years.
Even though Walter had officially retired from Saskatchewan Highways in 1994, he continued working up until recently. Walter worked for EG Services from Hudson Bay as a grader operator plowing bush roads for Weyerhauser in the Hudson Bay, Carrot River, and Nipawin areas. He worked for Brian Neufeld on his farm, He also continued with his saw sharpening business, doing any and all yard work and household maintenance for others, driving the Abilities Bus for the participants at Mackenzie Training Centre, operating the groomer for the Snowmobile Club, driving the garbage truck, and driving the septic truck for Parkland Septic Tank Services.
Walter was generous with his time towards community organizations including Preeceville Minor Hockey and the Preeceville Pats Hockey Team, Preeceville Minor Baseball, Sports Grounds Committee, and Trinity United Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, playing fastball and later slo-pitch, card games, board games, and most importantly spending time with his children, grandchildren and other family.
Walter was predeceased by his parents Dan and Julia Bloski, brothers Bill (Beatrice) Blotski, John Blotski, Eugene Blotski; and brother in law Paul Pasiechnik,
