It is with sadness, that the family of Wayne Johnson, loving husband of Eileen (Chabai) Johnson, announce his passing on Friday, January 2, 2026, in Regina, SK, with family by his side.He was 83 years of age.
As per Wayne’s request, no formal service will be held. For those who wish to honor Wayne’s memory, take time to enjoy a quiet moment fishing.
Wayne Kenneth Johnson was born in Winnipeg, MB, on January 31, 1942.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Ella; and siblings, Konrad, Leonard, Ben, Lyle, Johana, and Ruth.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Eileen; his children, Janet (Daryll), Warren (Denise), and Trevor; grandchildren, Danielle (Danny), Julia, Denny, Jake, Michael, Ben, and Katie. Wayne has a great-grandson, Jaxon, and was delighted to welcome his first great-granddaughter, Claire, and loved her dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Lara (Eugene).
Wayne worked tirelessly during his life. Wayne and Eileen instilled a strong work ethic in their children, which is evident to this day. While working construction as a “cat skinner” was the mainstay, Wayne also had a deep love for cattle and raised them in Birch River and The Pas, MB.
While working, Wayne was often away from home, but was always sure the family had what they needed. During these times, Mom was the backbone that held us all together. Wayne started his own construction company, building roads for logging companies in The Pas. He ventured to Alberta and had a construction business with his brother, Leonard.
When Wayne finally decided to retire, Sturgis, SK, was the chosen location. Here he surprised us all with his endless hobbies: fishing, hunting, gardening, canning, cooking, and of course trying to outdo his brother, Leonard, with the best garlic. It was surprising, but nice to see him enjoying all the things he never had the time to do while working. Wayne was riding his exercise bike twice a day until his passing.
The family would like to thank the Preeceville Paramedic Service, Yorkton Regional Health Centre, and Regina General Hospital, Fourth Floor staff for their compassion and professionalism while helping Dad.
