Willard Loyde Yurkiw was born on April 25, 1935 to Metro and Mary (Stratychuk) Yurkiw on their family farm in the Endeavour district. Willard was the eldest of their two children. Willard had a younger sister Shirley. They lived on the family farm until the family moved into Endeavour and operated a blacksmith shop. Endeavour was Willard’s home for decades.
While growing up in Endeavour Willard attended Lillian school just south of Endeavour. He would help his parents, friends, and neighbors, cutting grass, raking leaves and hauling wood, anything to lend a helping hand.
Willard’s working career was at the Endeavour Store for 50 plus years working with four different owners. He loved working there, meeting new people and remembering each one of them. He took great pride in his job everyday right up until his passing.
Willard’s life was full of love. He loved everyone, he had the kindest soul, greatest handshake, hug and smile. He will be forever missed. His impact on the community of Endeavour will never be forgotten. The kindness everyone shared in his life was held dearly to him.
Willard was predeceased by his parent Metro and Mary; his sister Shirley; and great-great niece Comelia.
He is survived by his brother-in-law Karl (Diane); nephew Keith; nieces Cynthia (Duane) and Coralie; great nieces and nephews Garrett, Chris, Brianne and her life partner Dylan, Jessica and life partner James; great-great nieces Harper and Sadie; many cousins and close friends.
Interment to follow in the Preeceville Community Cemetery.
