William Wilgosh Obituary

William was born in Preeceville, SK on December 30th, 1931 to Alex and Palana (Moroz) Wilgosh. The family resided on a farm south of Stenen, SK. William was the youngest of his brothers Laddie, Dan and Mike and sisters Ann, Nellie, and Alice. William attended school near Stenen but knew he had a zest to start work and earn money.

When William was old enough, he went to work for CN which took him to places like Prince Rupert and Smithers B.C.  He enjoyed the work but didn’t like all of the travelling and returned to the Stenen area to farm. He met Gertrude Pasloski and they married in October 1958. William and Gertrude welcomed their only daughter Veronica in 1966.

William wasn’t afraid to work and held many different jobs, as a truck driver he hauled chickens, moved people, and sold fish. He did custom combine work and sold cars for a dealership in Buchanan. He was always wheeling and dealing to make a dollar.

In 1973, the family moved to Preeceville, which was his home for the remainder of his life. William worked a short time at Beaver Lumber but decided to start his own business where he obtained the Sanitation contract for the Town of Preeceville. While the main contract was with Preeceville, he also served a few surrounding communities for a short period of time. William provided the sanitation service for many years until he eventually sold the business to retire.

William was extremely proud of his 3 grandchildren Derek, Brooke, and Connor and enjoyed watching them play their sports: hockey, baseball and football.  William and Gertie were always excited to see them play. As he grew older, he enjoyed them visiting so he could tell them his latest joke and take them over to Midtown to get a treat.

William loved to tell his jokes and share his opinions too.  He was never afraid to speak his mind but when he lost Gertie, his world changed and his health slowly declined.  William celebrated his 90th birthday in December 2021 and was just so proud that he made it to that milestone. Now he can be reunited with his wife Gertrude, his mom and dad, brothers and sisters and all the family and friends who have passed before him.

William is lovingly remembered by his daughter Veronica; his grandchildren Derek (Paige) Yaremchuk and their daughter Claire; Brooke (Bryanna) Wilgosh and their daughter Vesper; Connor Wollmann; Brother-in-law Edwin (Sylvia) Pasloski; Sister-in-law Theresa (Richard) Theiss and numerous nieces, nephews, and all those he shared stories and jokes with.

A very special thank you to Preeceville Personal Care Home Staff as well as William’s palliative and home care nurses. You made his final days and wishes a reality. William left this earth in the place he wanted and in the time that was right for him. He can now join all of those that were dear to him again by sharing his many jokes.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
