Tom
Our "brother" from Denmark
We are saddened to learn of his passing and so glad we Emil( Ellen) Myhr boys could be with him on the August long weekend to remember the goodold days and to recall when Tom, a young Danish immigrant at Dad's farm, worked as a hired man from 1951 till about 1956. Then he went to the oil fields and in 1960 bought the Severson farm close to the North Prairie Lutheran Church. He was reliable and a steadfast farm worker and became an "Uncle Tom " to our children and someone we always visited at his farm and respected as well since he was there to help build our first home in '53, there when Dad lost an eye and when I got polio and when the Myhr boys combined the fall harvest. Also at Xmas eve, Ma always made sure he was with our family and we would have lutefisk: a favorite dish of his.
We, boys, will miss you very much and the stories you recall of days gone by when we were kids and when you worked for our Dad for 5-6 years.

Tom bought his farm in North Prairie from my grandparents, Otto and Laura Severson. Tom loved his farm and had high standards for its upkeep and appearance. He always welcomed me and other members of my family whenever we dropped in on him. We would have coffee and visit, perhaps drive out to look at where on his land lady slipper orchids grew, or where a fox or birds could be seen. In summer and fall he would gift me with vegetables from his garden. Tom became a good friend over the years and I will miss him. May he rest in peace.
